Veterans Day 5K / 10K – Wrap Up

THANK YOU! That’s the most important thing i can say right now. I am grateful for all of your support at our first annual Veterans Day Event . I want to send a special thank you to John Fusco, Judy Guthrie, Taylor Brannon, DJ Redmond, and Peaches (Alicia) for literally Freezing with me to make this race a success.

In the end, we had an amazing turn out. I know we can at least double the registrations next year. Those of you that braved the sub-20 degree temps and wind. You are heroes for the day!

As the year winds down we are looking to produce one more event. Our second annual “Two for Tots – Hills for the Holidays” race . This year we will host the event on a new less hilly (but still a long grind) course. We will offer a 2 mile and 5k option. Tentative date will be Sunday, December 10th. Start time is TBD, but typically early afternoon for this event due to temps. I’ll have registration open soon. As in the past, we will collect presents, wrapping paper, and money to donate to Children’s Aid Society.

Run Country Style – Recap: August 8, 2015

Great weather, great music, and great participants equals an Awesome Event!

The 1st annual Run Country Style event hosted at the Cool Spring Corn Maze was a huge success.  We saw 130 registrations and 118 participants in this inaugural event.  Participants had a choice of the Boot Scootin’ 10k – Presented by McCandless Ford,  Country Kicker 5k – Presented by Jones Burgers and Shakes, and the Buckaroo Fun Run – Presented by Dr. David Hefner, Pediatrician.  Finishers in the 5k and 10k were greeted at the finish by our amazing volunteers and their cool finish medals!

After their races, participants got to hang out at the Corn Maze for our post race tailgate party.  Lemonade, Tea, bagels, and bananas were available to replenish the runners energy.  Tailgate party activities included Corn Hole, Pedal Tractors, and live music from the Mighty Hellbenders band.  It’s safe to say a good time was had by all!

Unique awards were given to the the top 3 male and female finishers overall, and the top 3 in each age group.  The top 3 in the Country Kicker 5k received country gift baskets while the top 3 in the 10k got custom boot trophy’s.

A canned food drive supporting the Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County we a huge success.  In addition to a pick-up truck load of food, over $350 was donated to the Food Warehouse.

A special thank you to John and Dave McCullough for hosting us at the Cool Springs Corn Maze.  They offered us the perfect venue, the coolest toys (seriously, the pedal tractors are super fun!), and the best hospitality anyone could ever ask for.

Last but not least, THANK YOU to our event Sponsors!  With out your donations and financial support we would not have been able to produce such a great event.
